New addition to our family!

Dresden Anneke (ahn-neh-keh) was born on Tuesday, January 27th at 3:48 pm. She weighed in at 8lbs and is 19.5" tall. She is the sweetest baby ever. And her brothers can't seem to get enough of her.

Her birth story goes like this...I was scheduled to be induced on Monday, January 26th (Grandma Jackie's birthday) because my Dr was concerned that if I waited for my due date that she would be too big. Dustin and I arrived at the hospital at 7:45am. They showed us to a room and had me change my clothes. We sat and waited and waited. Finally 2 hours later they came in and said they were sorry and that they had a semi-emergency and had even thought of sending us home, but they didn't. So we get started and they hook me up to the Pitocin. They check to see if I am dilated at all. The nurse could not reach my cervix. So, we sit and wait. They uped the pitocin every so often. My Dr comes in about 1pm and checks me and she said I was 1-2 cm. So, more waiting. I walk the hall for about an hour and they check me again...still 1-2 cm. I walk the hall some more...still 1-2 cm. I was starting to get very discouraged at this point. Finally about 8pm or so my Dr. comes back, she says she won't break my water because I am still only 1-2 cm and my cervix is too high and without an epidural it would hurt for her to do so. She suggested upping the pitocin more and see what happens. So we do that every half hour until about 10 pm at which time I finally give up. They let me shower and feed me...I had not eaten all day. They insert Cervidil and give me a sleeping pill/muscle relaxer about 1 am. Finally I was able to relax somewhat and sleep a little. They made me sleep on the delivery bed which we women all know how comfortable those beds are! They wake me at 5:30 am and take out the Cervidil and start the Pitocin up. Oh, and they check me...still only 1-2 cm. My Dr comes in at 9 am and checks me...still only 1-2 cm. So she decides to try and break my water. Yeah, she wasn't kidding that it would hurt! BUT, once my water was broken I started to progress. By 11 am I was ready for an epidural. A little side note...With Connor my epidural did not work, and with Trevor I was too scared to get one. So, I told the anesthesiologist of my issues with the epidural and he assured me it would be fine. Yeah, within about 10 minutes I could not feel a thing. It was awesome! So my mom and sister came and we just chatted for a while until I got really sleepy so they left to get lunch. At 2 pm they checked me and low and behold I was 8 cm. So I text my mom and sister to come back. So we hung out until about 3 pm just chatting. The nurse checked me again and it was time to push. She had me push a few times and they called my Dr. She showed up 10 minutes later. The contractions were about 5-6 minutes apart so in between everyone in the room just chatted including myself. It was nice to not feel any of it. Although, I could feel the pressure so I at least knew when to push. So at 3:48 pm my little girl was born. It was a long 2 days but worth it. On Wednesday I kept telling the nurses I wanted to go home that day and they all thought I was crazy...hello I had been in the hospital since Monday morning I would rather be in my own house than sitting around there.

The boys stayed with Grandma and Grandpa and had lots of fun but they were ready for us to come home. The boys just love their little sister and can't seem to get enough of her. Connor wants to hold her all the time and keeps asking me to wake her up so she can watch TV with him and Trevor giggles at her noises.

Dresden's first bath at home...she didn't like it very much!
